Game 1 - Saturday September 6, 2003:
Lakers come out strong and win the opener 4 to 1. Great physical game played by everybody, all 3 lines were clicking and the defense played well. Ryan Fahey held the fort in net holding a strong MidState team to a single tally in the first period. Goals: Jeff Koloski, Zach Ledgard, Chris Sylvester, Andrew Kelly Assists: Steve Maglione, Dan McGreevey, Chris Sylvester, Shawn Shannon Game 2 - Sunday September 7, 2003: Hard fought game, very physical and a lot closer than the final score indicates. Everbody skated, back checked and hustled throughout the game. Framingham scored most of their goals in tight after Ryan had made 2 or 3 saves, the team has to improve it's defensive play in front of our net by clearing loose pucks and opponents after every shot. Some heavy hitting by both teams, in particular by Chris Sylvester. Goals: Zach Wojtowicz Assists: Andrew Kelly, Shawn Shannon Game 3 - Tuesday September 16, 2003: Great hockey game! Super effort by everyone, quick shifts, make 'em count! The other team was outplayed but still managed to score one more goal than us, we had a little let down in front of Ryan who played spectacular, coming up big on a couple of breakaways. Two point games by Shawn Shannon and Doug McKenna with Luke Haggerty chipping in with an assist. The lines are starting to mesh and are generating a lot of offense, we just have to clear the puck out of our zone more consistently to be more successful. Goals: Doug McKenna, Shawn Shannon Assists: Shawn Shannon, Doug McKenna, Luke Haggerty BackGame 4 - Monday September 22, 2003: Tough loss, hat's off to the Laker #2 team as they shut us out for the first time this season. Ryan Fahey had a super game and kept the score a lot closer than it should of been. The offense sputtered and was unable to get any good scoring chances. We played on our heels the whole game and didn't seem to really want to win, as a result we got "smoked". Hockey is a game of desire and usually the team that wants it more wins. Goals: none Assists: none BackGame 5 - Monday September 30, 2003: Unbelievable game, our first win in Westborough this year! This is more like Lakers hockey, the team came out flying and never let up. All 3 lines skated like fiends, the defense was very physical in front of the net and Ryan Fahey had another stellar game. MidState came out strong and we shut down their attack. Good to see Andrew Kelly, Ryan Day and Chris Sylvester on the scoreboard. Shawn Shannon capped the game with a hard earned open net tally. If we skate like this for the rest of the year we'll win our share of games and seriously make a run for the championship. Keep it up, great job! Goals: Andrew Kelly, Ryan Day, Shawn Shannon Assists: Chris Sylvester BackGame 6 - Saturday October 4, 2003: Tough loss, we were a little shot handed and got beat pretty bad. The Starhawks had a lot of firepower and pasted us with 8 goals. Ryan Fahey was left to face several shooters uncontested in front of his net. We also ran into a very hot goalie and couldn't buy a goal despite numerous scoring opportunities. The good news: the team never let up and played hard till the final buzzer despite the lopsided score. Let's build on this one and tighten up the defense for the rest of the year. Goals: Dan McGreevey Assists: Steve Maglione, Doug McKenna BackGame 7 - Tuesday October 7, 2003: Great game from start to finish! Backed by the unbelievable play of Ryan Fahey in the nets, the team held off a furious attack by the previously unbeaten Demons to win 2 to 1. Super effort by everyone, very physical contest. Ryan stopped evrything they threw at him and had a shutout going until the Demons scored with 7 seconds left in the game. Goals: Andrew Kelly, Doug McKenna Assists: Luke Haggerty, Zack Ledgard, Steve Maglione, Zack Wojtowicz BackGame 8 - Tuesday October 14, 2003: Our 3rd straight victory in Westborough! Great job by everyone, we are on a roll. Super effort by Zach Wojtowicz in goal, a couple of big saves in the 3rd period sealed the victory for us. Great to see Steve Maglione break out for a two goal game, keep it up! (Remember good things happen when you SHOOT the puck). Andrew Kelly stuffed in the game winner and the crafty Doug McKenna assisted on all 3 goals. Goals: Steve Maglione (2), Andrew Kelly Assists: Doug McKenna (3) BackGame 9 - Tuesday October 21, 2003: Not much to say here... An old fashioned butt kicking! Goals: none Assists: none BackGame 10 - Tuesday October 28, 2003: Big win for the team! Great job by everyone, it's good to see the team skating and passing with a purpose. Big game by the McGreevey, Koloski, Day line who combined for 6 points. The D played a very gritty game holding the opposition in check for most of the night. Ryan Fahey held the fort once again and limited SMS to just 3 goals. Goals: Zack Wojtowicz, Andrew Kelly, Jeff Koloski, Dan McGreevey, Steve Maglione, Chris Sylvester Assists: Ryan Day (2), Dan McGreevey (2), Doug McKenna, Zack Ledgard BackGame 11 - Tuesday November 4, 2003: Andrew Kelly breaks out with a big game! Awesome goal and assist lead the Lakers to victory. The Kelly, Sylvester and Ledgard line was on fire, scoring a combined 5 points! The Defense led by some strong body checking by Luke Haggerty played tough all night and Ryan Fahey played spectacular in the pipes, at one point stopping the biscuit with his head when his hands were tied up! Great win, we are cruising in Westborough and have just eclipsed the .500 mark overall with a record of 6 wins against 5 losses. Goals: Doug McKenna, Andrew Kelly, Zack Ledgard Assists: Chris Sylvester (2), Andrew Kelly BackGame 12 - Tuesday November 11, 2003: Tough loss, the team played great hockey for the 1st and 3rd periods but let up in the 2nd period and it cost us the game. Andrew Kelly continued his torrid scoring streak as he potted two goals and Cam Canale busted out with a beautiful rush up the middle to score. As a team we have to get tougher in front of the net especially clearing out the opponent's forwards who were teeing off on Ryan Fahey all day long. We have to play 3 complete periods of hockey to win. Goals: Andrew Kelly(2), Cam Canale Assists: Dan McGreevey, Zack Ledgard, Cam Canale, Steve Maglione, Tyler Long BackGame 13 - Tuesday November 11, 2003: Good victory, our 2nd in Marlborough so far... Jeff Koloski lit the lamp twice, the first one a beauty on a break away. Kelly, McKenna and Sylvester rounded out the scoring with the speedy Tyler Long chipping in with 2 big helpers. Most of the squad skated very hard throughout the entire contest. Keep it up and we'll start winning on a regular basis. Once again Ryan Fahey held the fort in net, with a lot of support from his defenseman. Goals: Jeff Koloski(2), Andrew Kelly, Chris Sylvester, Doug McKenna Assists: Tyler Long(2), Dan McGreevey, Ryan Day, Andrew Kelly, Zack Ledgard, Zack Wojtowicjz BackGame 14 - Sunday November 16, 2003: Great battle, ended up a 3 to 3 tie! nothing like early morning Sunday hockey. Luke Haggerty takes home the Lakers 1st "Outstanding Effort" award for great hustle. Luke opened the scoring with a nifty rink length rush and nice shot down low. Tyler Long got on the boards with a super effort and Dan McGreevey tied the game in the last period with a blazing snap shot off the wing. Good overall offensive game as we peppered the opponent's net for most of the game. Stellar game by our defensemen and a fine contest by Zack Wojtowicz in nets. Goals: Luke Haggerty, Tyler Long, Dan McGreevey Assists: Steve Maglione, Kirk Bobkowski Outstanding Effort: Luke Haggerty BackGame 15 - Saturday November 22, 2003: A very lackluster performance, the team came out flat and got smoked. Lot's of silly penalties, and you need an awful long stick to score from the penalty box! Goals: Andrew Kelly Assists: Steve Maglione BackGame 16 - Tuesday December 2, 2003: Time to regroup as a team as we are now playing sub .500 hockey and our overall record has dipped to 7 wins, 8 losses and 1 tie. Goals: none Assists: none BackGame 17 - Sunday December 7, 2003: The slide continues as the team got walloped by a feisty Shrewsbury squad. We generated no offense and played poorly on defense. Goals: Andrew Kelly Assists: none Game 18 - Tuesday December 9, 2003: Great game, tough loss. We outshot the opposition 2 to 1, and almost tied it with the extra skater at the end. Good overall effort, we are capable of playing great hockey when everybody turns it up a notch. Andrew Kelly continues his torrid scoring pace with 2 dingers with Jeff Koloski and Ryan Day rounding out the scoring. Goals: Andrew Kelly(2), Jeff Koloski, Ryan Day Assists: Chris Sylvester(2), Ryan Day, Andrew Kelly, Kirk Bobkowski Game 19 - Saturday December 20, 2003: Big loss, the team skated with little emotion and got steamrolled. Goals: Doug McKenna, Andrew Kelly Assists: Chris Sylvester, Dan McGreevey Game 20 - Wednesday December 24, 2003: The slide continues... Goals: Andrew Kelly Assists: Chris Sylvester, Dan McGreevey Game 21 - Friday January 2, 2004: Tough loss, the team skated hard but came up short... Jeff Koloski broke out with two big goals on rebounds. We have to start crashing the net on EVERY offensive chance and get the rest of the team scoring goals, you can't win if you can't score! Let's go Lakers, it's time to turn around the season, the last 7 games have resulted in very unispirational losses. Goals: Jeff Koloski (2) Assists: Ryan Day, Tyler Long Game 22 - Sunday January 4, 2004: A real stinker of a game! The team played hard for the first period, Ryan Day crashed the net to bang in a rebound for the first tally of the contest. Assabet stormed back to tie and then ran away with the victory. The Lakers once behind by 2 goals just stopped skating and the game was history. Good hockey teams play hard for the full 3 periods no matter the score, right now we are playing very bad hockey, our 8th straight loss, UGH!!! Goals: Ryan Day Assists: Dan McGreevey Game 23 - Tuesday January 6, 2004: Good overall effort, the team skated hard for 3 periods. The Lakers never gave up, we were in this game till the final whistle. If we can pick up our intensity we could turn this season around and start winning again. Super effort by Zach Wojtowicz who filled in admirably in net, thanks buddy. Goals: none Assists: none Game 24 - Sunday January 11, 2004: Great game, what action! Jeff Koloski was on fire with 1 goal ( a sweet backhander) and 2 assists. Andrew Kelly, Ryan Day and Zach Ledgard chipped in with one goal each. Super effort by everybody, the defense was outstanding and Ryan Fahey held the fort. The team was very physical, hitting everybody on the ice which opened up a lot of room for our forwards. Victory at last! Let's keep it up... Goals: Jeff Koloski, Andrew Kelly, Ryan Day, Zach Ledgard Assists: Jeff Koloski(2), Dan McGreevey, Zach Wojtowicz, Cam Canale Game 25 - Tuesday January 13, 2004: Another super game, tough physical contest. When we hustle and check for 3 full periods we win. Big game by Andrew Kelly (3 points), Jeff Koloski continues his excellent play (2 points), Doug McKenna (2 points) set up a beauty from behind the net (Chris Sylvester tap in) and Dan McGreevey put the game out of reach with 5 minutes remaining. Great defense as the D continued to punish the opponent with thundering hits and Ryan Fahey refused to let the other team into the game with his superb goaltending. Goals: Jeff Koloski, Andrew Kelly, Doug McKenna, Chris Sylvester, Dan McGreevey Assists: Andrew Kelly(2), Doug McKenna, Jeff Koloski Game 26 - Saturday January 17, 2004: Great hockey game! Ryan Fahey was unbelievable in the nets, stopping everything Shrewsbury threw at him! The team played a very physical, gritty game with Chris Sylvester scoring our only goal to tie the game at 1 a piece in the 3rd period. Very exciting contest, this one went into TRIPLE OVERTIME! What a battle, keep up the good skating boys. Goals: Chris Sylvester Assists: none Game 27 - Saturday January 17, 2004: Tough game against the same Shrewsbury team we battled earlier in a triple overtime contest. This one ended deadlocked in a 1 to 1 tie. Andrew Kelly lit the lamp for his team leading 18th goal with assists to Jeff Koloski and Chris Sylvester. Goals: Andrew Kelly Assists: Jeff Koloski, Chris Sylvester Game 28 - Sunday January 25, 2004: Brutal loss! We just didn't want it bad enough, overall the team played very timidly and it resulted in a very lopsided defeat. Andrew Kelly continued his torrid goal scoring streak with a monster hat trick and the ever versatile Zack Wojtowicz filled in between the pipes. Goals: Andrew Kelly(3) Assists: Chris Sylvester Game 29 - Friday February 6, 2004: MidState came out strong and took us out 5 to 2, once again the offense sputtered. Good goals by Ryan Day and Dan McGreevey, however the team has to start shooting the puck more often to win. Goals: Ryan Day, Dan McGreevey Assists: Doug McKenna, Tyler Long Game 30 - Saturday February 7, 2004: Big win for the Lakers, great game for McKenna and Sylvester who both potted a pair of big goals. Great hitting by the club, when we play physical we win! Keep it up... Goals: Doug McKenna(2), Chris Sylvester(2), Steve Maglione Assists: none Game 31 - Sunday February 8, 2004: Another defensive battle with Shrewsbury, trailing 1 to 0 into the 3rd we evened the score with a super effort by Zack Wojtowicz, assited by Steve Maglione. The opposition scored with 3 minutes remaining to take the lead and iced the game with 1 minute remaining. A great battle with Ryan Fahey playing superbly in the nets. Goals: Zack Wojtowicz Assists: Steve Maglione Game 32 - Wednesday February 18, 2004: Very physical contest, we played ok, but you don't deserve to win if you can only score 1 goal! We have to start scoring on a more consistent basis in order to win. Let's go Lakers! Goals: Chris Sylvester Assists: Zack Ledgard Game 33 - Tuesday February 24, 2004: Great game, we outplayed a strong BayState team but had to settle for a tie. Great blast from the point for Jake Holland's first goal of the season and a timely slaphot by Dan McGreevey to even the score in the 3rd period. Super overall effort, the team playwed with a lot of intensity. Goals: Jake Holland, Dan McGreevey Assists: none Game 34 - Saturday February 28, 2004: Another hard fought defensive battle, super hockey game, we skated hard and played the body for 3 full periods. Ryan Fahey had a great game, keeping us in this one, we just couldn't score, plenty of chances but no goals! Overall the team is playing much better hockey, keep it up, the playoffs are just around the corner. Goals: none Assists: none Game 35 - Tuesday March 9, 2004: Tough loss, Tri-Valley outgunned us and we ran into a red hot goalie! Better luck next game... Goals: none Assists: none Game 36 - Wednesday March 10, 2004: Great game!!! We finally break out of our scoring slump, however we just came up short and still ended up on the losing end. The team played very well and peppered the opponent's goalie for most of the game. We pulled Ryan Fahey with 1:30 to go in the 3rd and swarmed the net like demons, alas to no avail. This one was fun, we have to keep up the intensity, it's playoff time. Goals: Steve Maglione, Chris Sylvester, Shawn Shannon Assists: Jeff Koloski(2), Dan McGreevey, Luke Haggerty Game 37 - Tuesday March 16, 2004: Another flat game by most of our skaters, with the exception of Chris Sylvester who has been on a scoring roll lately (back to back games with goals) and Shawn Shannon who seems to have regained his mid season form since coming back from his leg injury. We are down 1 already and the playoffs just started. Bring on MidState Sunday night and remember to bring your scoring sticks! Goals: Shawn Shannon(3), Doug McKenna(2), Dan McGreevey, Zack Ledgard, Zack Wojtowicz, Cam Canale Assists: Zack Wotowicz(2), Steve Maglione, Jeff Koloski, Doug McKenna, Kirk Bobkowski, Ryan Day, Chris Sylvester Game 40 - Sunday March 21, 2004: We win the championship in exciting fashion! Goals: Shawn Shannon(2), Doug McKenna, Steve Maglione Assists: Zack Wojtowicz, Cam Canale, Jeff Koloski, Dan McGreevey, Andrew Kelly Game 44 - Monday March 29, 2004: The streak is over! After 6 straight wins we lose in a real stinker, the team came out flat, played passively and got beat a lot worse than the final score indicates. If it wasn't for Ryan Fahey's strong game in goal we could have lost by a dozen goals. Let's forget this one and start playing Laker's hockey again, real soon!
